An About, Contact or Privacy page was not found

In the reportA basic trust page or a way to contact the site was not found

site_trust_pages_missing · Review item

Short answer

This appears when all supported addresses checked for a required trust page return qualified 404/410 answers, or when a qualified Contact page has no usable email link, phone link or contact form. Missing navigation labels alone do not trigger it: those labels and headings guide the bounded page search. Add a useful page with a clear link, or provide a usable contact method.

Severity: Low.

Why it matters

Google's guidance on helpful content asks whether content gives background about the author or the site that publishes it, such as through links to an author page or a site's About page.

What to do

  1. Look at the finding: for each kind of page it shows the links and addresses that were checked and what each one answered.
  2. Create the missing page and link it from the site navigation or footer with a plain label such as About us, Contact or Privacy Policy.
  3. On the Contact page, give at least one direct way to reach you: an email link, a phone link or a contact form.

When to leave it as it is: if the information is on your site under a label or address the check does not recognise, you can leave it. The finding describes what the audit could find, not whether your site can be trusted.

What we read

We read the homepage's visible navigation and footer link labels and qualified headings in English and Ukrainian. These propose About, Contact and Privacy targets; supported conventional addresses are also considered when needed. Returns and shipping pages are included only when the audit's existing ecommerce classification is established.

About and Privacy presence requires a qualified full page with matching visible role content. Contact presence requires a usable nonempty email link, phone link or contact form. A required page is reported as missing when all supported candidates return qualified 404/410 answers; a qualified Contact page without a usable method can also be reported. Unread or ambiguous candidates leave coverage incomplete.

Example & evidence

Illustrative example — one audit, not a live result.

The footer of bakery.example links to About us and Contact; no link is labelled as a privacy page:

GET https://bakery.example/about-us/ 200 heading: About us
GET https://bakery.example/contact/ 200 heading: Contact, link: mailto:
GET https://bakery.example/privacy 404
GET https://bakery.example/privacy-policy 404

Both usual privacy addresses are missing, so the site is reported with the privacy page as the missing one. A possible correction: a footer link Privacy Policy to a page with that heading; nothing is then reported.

Confirm & check again

Check for yourself: open your homepage, look in the menu and footer for links to an About, a Contact and a Privacy page, and check that the Contact page shows an email link, a phone link or a form.

Check again: Full audit — run a new audit of the site. The finding closes when every kind of page is found: each one linked under a recognised label or served at a usual address, with a matching heading or a contact method. A page that could not be read, or whose answer is unclear, leaves it unconfirmed.

Limits & sources

An address or a page title alone does not make a page count: /about answering 200 without an About heading is left unconfirmed, as are an empty page filled in by JavaScript, a redirect to the homepage, and a missing page that could not be told apart from a block or a challenge.

Only English and Ukrainian labels from a short list are recognised, in navigation and footer regions of the homepage. A page linked under another label, in another language or only from inner pages may not be found.

A search box, a login form and a newsletter sign-up are not contact forms, and hidden content is ignored. An email address or phone number written as plain text, with no link or form, is left unconfirmed.

Returns and shipping pages are looked for only when the site is recognised as an online shop. This is a bounded discovery check; it gives no legal opinion and no trust score.

Confidence: Medium because a page under a label or address the check does not recognise cannot be ruled out, while every link and address it did check is shown with the answer received.
